Curriculum and Planning
My Philosophy
The curriculum was designed for teachers to use as a guideline for their teaching and learning. We as educators need to find a way to deliver the content specifically for the students' that we are presented with in our classrooms. The way that we can do that is through planning. Planning can be done either individually or collaboratively using collaborative techniques within learning teams and discussions with more experienced teachers.

Through my experience at Kardinia International College, I was exposed to a new curriculum program, IB. It was an excellent experience to be exposed to a new curriculum and challenged my pedagogy and teaching stance as an educator. It taught me to become a more adaptable educator and it was an excellent experience to see how using a different curriculum would impact my ability to plan and assess. In this circumstance, I was exposed to planning in a team learning groups to assist further with my knowledge and adaption of the curriculum.

AusVELS
Australian Curriculum and Assessment Authority in Victoria, 2016.

Throughout my degree alike the Australian Curriculum, I have developed knowledge and understanding of the Australian Curriculum in Victoria, AusVELS, 2016. As an educator, we need to learn to become adaptable and this includes being adaptable in the policy and doccuments that we follow and implement. Similar to above in relation to the Australian Curriculum, I have successfully used AusVELS as a planning, development and assessment tool as a guideline for my practice.
The Victorian Curriculum
Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority 2016.

New to my knowledge is the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority. This curriculum will be replacing AusVELS and can be chosen to be implemented in schools around Victoria in 2016. So far, I have had very limited exposure to the Victorian Curriculum, but am enthusiastic to learn and develop more as this exposure progresses.
The Australian Curriculum
Australian Curriculum and Assessment Authority 2014.

Throughout my degree I have developed knowledge and understanding of the Australian Curriculum. Knowing the curriculum, the standards and the progression points that are embedded in the curriculum, provide me with an outline of where the students' should be now, and where I need to take the students' to upon completion of the unit. The Australian Curriculum provides an excellent baseline for planning and assessment and I have used the curriculum to plan lessons and units of work in a variety of subject areas over my teaching degree.
Team Planning

Throughout my experience I have exposed myself to multiple opportunites to plan in a team enviroment. At Kardinia International College, I was able to actively participate in weekly team year 3 planning meetings to develop our weekly lesson outline and plan. This was an excellent opportunity to share new ideas and learn new lesson ideas in a collaborative and safe learning environment. At Bellbrae Primary School, I also participated in team planning enviroments on a weekly basis to plan weekly lessons and evaluate previously taught lesson sequences.
Individualised Planning

Whilst I have had experience planning in a team environment, I have also had extensive experience in individual planning. This involves both planning singularly for the lesson based on the curriculum and also individualising my planning to cater for students' of all abilities. Whilst planning for a class, it is important to plan and cater for all the differing students' in the classroom. I have planned effectively for a range of students' including students' with dyslexia, students' on differing ends of the ASD, students' well above average, below average and students who at achieving the expected level.
